After few months of random symptoms, doctor visits, many days and nights of Mike & I asking each other “does this seem normal” and then a trip to a wonderful GI specialist today our little DIVA had a colonoscopy with biopsy. The GI doctor wanted to see what was going on and this was the best way to do so. After a long week of prep, we headed off to CHOC this morning for surgery. We were fortunate to have a special friend, Dr. Maya, as our anesthesiologist. He came in on his day off to be with Miya during the procedure. We feel so blessed to call his family “our friends”. Miya certainly played the part of the DIVA today. She flipped out even having the arm band out on in admitting. Luck for us once we got to our room they gave her some “happy medicine” which seemed to tame her DIVA~ness but she wasn’t giving up without a fight. Sal aka Dr. Maya was the ONE AND ONLY person she never cried when she saw. That said something in itself.
We were given the wrong prep instructions which led to not being able to do the procedure 100% but the GI Dr. was happy with what he saw and the outcome. Only now awaiting the biopsy results in the next week which I am sure will be fine. The procedure went well. Sal was so calming and gentle and made us feel so much better, Miya went right to sleep and all went well.
She woke up in recovery as scheduled and was a little fussy but after coming home and taking a nap she is back to her spunky self. Thank you for all of the love, support & prayers for our family and little Miya.
Today on the way back to the room for recovery we saw the most touching thing ever. SANTA was WAY UP HIGH (thank you to the fire department – took these photos for you dad) waving to all of the children that were in the hospital outside the room’s windows. What a special thing to have witnessed as you can see from the photos. …
